Description

The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual)

Ofqual is the independent qualifications regulator for England. We regulate so that qualifications are sufficiently valid and trusted.

We regulate GCSEs, AS and A levels, National Curriculum assessments, and broad range of vocational qualifications.

We are independent of government and report directly to Parliament, although we regulate within the context of government policy.

We have five statutory objectives, which are set out in the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009.

We regulate by recognising and monitoring organisations that deliver qualifications and assessments as set out in the Apprenticeship, Skills, Children and Learning Act (2009) and Education Act (2011).
